How to Analyze Token Holder Distribution

Intermediate Safety

A guide to reading and interpreting token holder data on Solana, understanding what healthy distribution looks like, and identifying red flags in holder concentration.

Step 1: Access Holder Data

Use Solscan, Birdeye, or MemeAI's analytics dashboard to view the holder distribution for any Solana token. Look at both the number of holders and concentration.

Step 2: Identify Top Holders

Check what percentage the top 10 holders own. Exclude known addresses like LP pools, burn addresses, and exchange wallets from your analysis.

Step 3: Evaluate Distribution Health

Healthy meme coins typically have no single wallet holding more than 5% (excluding LP). Wide distribution across many holders indicates organic growth.

Step 4: Check Holder Growth Rate

A steadily increasing holder count is bullish. Sudden spikes may indicate airdrop farming or bot activity rather than genuine interest.

Step 5: Monitor Whale Activity

Track whether large holders are accumulating or distributing. Consistent buying by top wallets is positive; consistent selling is a warning sign.

Step 6: Identify Related Wallets

Look for clusters of wallets that trade together, which may indicate coordinated manipulation. Tools like Solscan show wallet relationships.
